The Balance Collective team are pleased to announce that our Aquatics centre at Balance Mayfield will reopen for swimming lessons commencing from Monday 12th October 2020Bookings will open on Monday 28th September at 7.00am.

Our highest priority remains with the continued safety and wellbeing of our guests, visitors and staff and as such we will reopen with a new program structure in line with Covid regulations.

TERM 4 2020

We look forward to welcoming you back to term 4 and to thank you for your patience and loyalty, moving forward we will be providing you with a discounted rate.  Children can enjoy our 10-week program which runs from 12 October to 20 December for the discounted term price of $75 -that's $7.50 per class.

Squad members will be term based at the same price as Learn to Swim members for the duration of Term 4.


Important Information

  • Due to the restructure and the need to stagger classes to meet Covid-19 regulations all previous direct debit contracts will endLearn to Swim and Squad members will be required to book into Term 4 to secure their preferred date and time.
  • There is no direct debit option for Term 4 2020, we are offering Term bookings only at the discounted rate.

Families who had paid lesson or squad session fees for Term 1 (23rd March-31st March 2020), and booked for Term 2 2020 have received a full credit.  The credit can be applied when re-booking or if you do not wish to re-commence please contact our reception team immediately by email with your bank account details ready so a full refund can be processed. 


  • Two transfer lessons during the Term

  • All make-ups or transfers must be used by the end of Term 4 2020 as the make-up policy will be changing in 2021.


  • Stay home - If you or child are sick please stay home. Contact reception and cancel your lesson for the day.
  • Wash your hands often - Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based sanitiser.  We will have sanitising stations throughout the facility.
  • One parent per student (ideally 1 per family) where possible - To reduce crowding on pool deck and to adhere to social distancing regulations we ask that only 1 parent/carer be present during children’s lessons.
  • Change rooms, toilet and shower usage - These facilities are for quick rinse of showers or you may use the general showers in the gym facility to avoid overcrowding. We do however encourage that all children come and leave in their swimmers/robe and exit immediately after their lesson.
  • Sanitisation of equipment - We are undertaking extra cleaning of facilities and equipment. All equipment used will be rotated and sanitised after each lesson.
  • Changes to pool deck - The change tables need to be wiped down by the person using it with the disinfectant and paper towels provided after each use. Please adhere to social distancing rules when using the seating on pool deck.  We will provide paper towel and sanitiser to wipe the seats after use.
  • Signing in and out - All students must have their names marked off at reception when entering the facility.
  • Loan goggles and caps will not be available.
  • Change to class numbers - We have amended certain classes and reduced their capacity to comply with social distancing regulations.
  • Families can only enter the facility at lesson time.
  • Please follow direction of On-Deck Supervisors, walking arrows and sitting stations.
  • All teachers have undergone Infection Control Training.

2021 Learn to Swim

From 4 January 2021 we will transition into a rolling direct debit only facility.  Families will be able to access all year round classes for 50 weeks of the year, with no Term structure and best of all no contract, no cancellation fees and no need to re-book after each Term.

With great value at $60 per month you can enjoy watching your child's water confidence grow and forget about the hassle of re-booking lessons term after term.

Missed a lesson? No problems, access one make-up lesson per month to use inside a 4-week period, subject to availability, with 1 hour's notice of your cancelled lesson.

Placement cancellation? 60 days written notice of cancellation will apply.

Active Kids Program | A NSW Government initiative

Don't forget to apply for your 2020 Active Kids vouchers.

Balance Collective is a registered Active Kids provider!

Members can now redeem their vouchers for eligible learn to swim and fitness activities.

2019 Active Kids Vouchers are available from the Services NSW website from January 2019.

Lesson duration: 30 minutes
Is a progressive innovative program that provides a safe stimulating environment for a comprehensive water familiarisation and education program.  A parent or carer is required in the water for both Aqua Bubs and Aqua Tots (a baseball cap must be worn in the water by parent or carer). Babies need to wear a firm fitting aqua nappy underneath their swimmers and either a fabric or silicone swimming cap.

Aqua Babies | 5 children per class with parent/carer: 6 months- 15 months

In these classes children are introduced to the aquatic environment with the help of their parents.  We are guiding parents in the methods that will help their child to develop confidence, be happy in the water and willing to learn.

Aqua Tots | 5 children per class with parent/carer: 16 months - 2.5 years

This is an extension of the babies class with more age appropriate activities and skills focusing on motor skills, safety and eventually transitioning into a class without their parent.

Aqua Tykes | 3 children per class: 2.5 years - 3 years

This is a transition level where students are in the water without parents for the first time.

Lesson duration: 30 minutes 

Level 1| 3 children per class

This is a beginner level for first time swimmers 3 years and over or for those progressing up from the infants classes.  Focus is on placing eyes in the water, muscle memory kicking working towards a strong flutter kick, breath control and starting to get the right body position.

Saturday- AM and PM classes running in the 25m pool.
Sunday- CLOSED

Level 2| 3 children per class

In level 2, students are comfortable with both high and low dog paddle.  They are starting to learn the structure of freestyle and good body position and balance in the water with torpedo's, learning freestyle arms and back kicking with a kick board.

Saturday- AM and PM classes held in the 25m pool.
Sunday- CLOSED

Level 3| 3 children per class

(Equivalent to Level 4 School age)
Students have some swimming experience (can swim 5 meters) Introduction to Freestyle and breathing patterns, Independent back kicking without a board is  introduced in this level

Enhancing Stroke Techniques - Masterful swimming comes from correct technique. Therefore, we place great emphasis on correct technique. This then enables children to be competent swimmers for life, with the ability to partake & take advantage of our coastal lifestyle.

Level 4| 4 children per class

Level 4 includes the same skills as Level 3 however this level runs in the afternoons and on weekends.

Monday-Friday- PM classes running held in the program pool.
Saturday- AM and PM classes held in the 25m pool.
Sunday- CLOSED

Level 5| 5 children per class

In this level students are mastering freestyle breathing patterns, continuing building on their backstroke skills and will be introduced to breaststroke kick.
Session Times: 

Monday-Friday- PM classes held in the 25m pool. 
Saturday- AM and PM classes held in the 25m pool.
Sunday- CLOSED

Level 6| 5 children per class

In this level we are building endurance in both freestyle and backstroke.  Stroke correction is provided and breaststroke arms are being introduced.

Monday-Friday- PM classes running held in the 25m training pool.
Saturday - AM classes and PM classes held in the 25m training pool. 
Sunday- CLOSED

Level 7| 5 children per class

Level 7 is the first of our levels where students are swimming the full length of the 25m pool.  In this level students are mastering freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and introduction to butterfly.  Stroke correction is given.

Monday-Friday- PM classes running held in the 25m training pool.
Saturday- AM and PM classes held in the 25m training pool.
Sunday- CLOSED

Mini Squad | 45 minutes|6 children per class

Mini squad students are fine tuning their technique and working on their endurance  in preparation of advancing to Junior Squad.  Stroke correction is given.

Monday-Friday- PM classes running held in the 25m training pool.
Saturday-Sunday- AM and PM classes held in the 25m training pool

Private lessons| 1 child per class

Private lessons are available upon request. Bookings are essential and subject to instructor and pool availability.

Our Squad team are fully qualified with their Austswim Competitive strokes qualification and are excited to take your children’s swimming ability to the next level.
