Many people fall into the trap of thinking if they’re not working out they’re not improving their fitness, but if you don’t allow your body to recover after strenuous training you could be setting yourself up for injury. When you’ve trained really hard, you’ll suffer some minor muscle tears, which need time to repair.
A great way of post-workout recovery is using an ice bath, spa and steam room.
An example recovery session could be:
Ice baths maximum two minutes.
Steam room five minutes
Spa 10 minutes
Remember - keep your fluids up in the recovery area. Your body will no doubt have lost some fluids during the workout, and the steam room and spa will only extenuate that.
